Hotfix 9?

Just downloaded/installed this via liveupdate.

The link given by liveupdate, for "more information", http://support.veritas.com/docs/286976.htm, doesn't appear to be valid.

I can't find this hotfix or any reference to it on the support site.

Before I go rolling this out- does anyone know what it does.

Yes, I'm fully aware Symantec will probably go live with the above website right after I make this post, and someone will point me back at it.

As far as I know, there is no Hotix 9 yet. The latest are hotfix 5 (RALUS) and 9 (IDR for remote x64 servers).

Don't know if it's just that your link has a comma at the end, but http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/286976.htm works for me.
Only affects becmd and IDR.

The problem is that the link in liveupdate contains a .htm. If you copy and paste the link into a browser you must first remove the .htm.

:(

I was hoping this would cover some of the more troubling issues we're experiencing.

So glad that Hotfix came out, it addresses issues that I'm sure .000001% of us have...

As I have posted before, I dont think we should expect a whole lot of patches for 11d anytime soon. Considering Symantec released this product about 2 months before Exchange 2007 rtm'ed and this version dosent support e2k7 i bet they release another version dubbed 12d or something that contains support for exchange 2007 as well as fixes to all these current problems were having with this version.

I mean, after four months how could they not have already released some patches for some of these MAJOR issues that 95% of customers are experiencing? Yet they release patches that fix the most obscure problems that most have not even heard about or known to be issues to begin with. Where are their priorities?? In a new version?!

Am I missing something here or what, but when I read the documentation for this support article, it continues to include text such as "x64" and not "x32".

If this is for 64bit Windows only, then why is it showing up under my Backup Exec 11.d (32 bit) version.

Do you think it would be wise to apply this update? Has anyone else already applied the update to a 32bit system, and not had any fall-out consequences?

Why would LiveUpdate try to bring down the x64 bit version of the patch?

IIRC, it's for both versions.

I've partially installed it. A reboot is required, which I have scheduled for tonight. (x64 server)

Unless you can get a 64-Bit executable to run on a 32-Bit system, I wouldn't put this HotFix on one

From the top of the page

To which versions of Backup Exec can this hotfix be applied?
This hotfix can only be applied to the following versions of Backup Exec:
Backup Exec 11d for Windows Servers revision 6235 (x64)

LOL. Another Liveupdate bug?

There are two different downloads of HF9 depending on the version of Backup Exec 11 you have installed.

32bit - http://support.veritas.com/docs/286990
64bit - http://support.veritas.com/docs/286976

As for LiveUpdate, LiveUpdate will only show the appropriate hotfixes for the BE 11 version you have (32 vs 64) and will download the appropriate file. The only issue that I see is the "note" associated with the download in LiveUpdate. The technote referenced is incorrect.
