Hi,
FreeNAS 8.3.
Server 2008 R2
Backup Exec 2010 R3
I am implementing a FreeNAS server onto my network for additional file storage.
How do i backup the data in these shared folders on the FreeNAS box???
FreeNAS box is joined to my Active Directory.
I can browse to the freenas server in the selection list, expand it and select the content.
However the job fails with:
(Server: "server") (Job: "FreeNas Test") FreeNas Test -- The job failed with the following error: The logon account that was provided does not have valid credentials. Ensure that the user name and password are correct, and then try again.
The job runs as a Backup Exec domain user account, that is a member of the Domain Admins group.
I cant put a remote agent onto the FreeNAS box - but my media server is fully licenced with the remote agent.
How do i backup FreeNAS please with Backup Exec 2010R3?
Thanks

Hello Andrew,
Refer to the following technote
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH143523 : Access denied errors with NAS, CIFS or Windows shares
EDIT:
Please note that you will need a license for "Agent for Windows Systems" to backup a remote NAS server. Although, on the NAS box, no software needs to be installed, but a license would be required to backup a remote server.
You may also want to refer to the following technotes
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH14963 : Network Attached Storage (NAS) appliance compatibility with Backup Exec 9.x, 10.x, 11.x, 12.x and 2010 R1/R2/R3 (NON NDMP)
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH88100 : Error, "Access is denied to Remote Agent. Check the login account for the specified device," occurs when attempting to backup a NAS device with Backup Exec for Windows Servers
Thanks,

Hi,
Add your BESA onto the NAS as a local admin explicitly and try again.
Thanks!

And ensure the option "Enable selection of user shares" is enabled from Tools - Options - Network & Security.
Did you run an actual backup job or a test run ? If the latter, run an actual backup job.

Thanks all for the suggestions.
The problem was my System Logon Account was different to that of the account the job runs under.
Married them up - and a backup of the FreeNAS box completed.
