How many AD agents required?

How is the AD Agent licensed? Do I need 1 agent per forest? 1 per domain? 1 per domain controller?

I think you can safely discard the Forest, Domain questions. Regardsless of those the key questions is how many servers do you have. If you have 2 AD servers then you need 2 AD agents for Backup Exec. So if you have branch office secondary AD servers you need AD Backup agetns for each of them. Saying so still you can decide only to apply AD agents for keys AD servers rather than every AD server.HTH

FWIW, the License Assessment Tool is useless no matter what the licensing requirements are...it told me I needed 6 AD Agents. There are 3 DCs with whose System State (including AD) is being backed up, and 8 in the domain/forest that this media server doesn't back up at all. So I've no idea where 6 came from!
