How to protect Virtualized Oracle running on Linux OS

I have Oracle server on Linux that running VMware.

I back up vm using AVVI and also back up database using Agent for Oracle.

When I restore,I need to restore Oracle after restore VM,Right?

So I want to know this is best practice or not.

Anyone who know about this please suggest a best practice document

By right if you restore the entire VM, you should get back you Oracle database at the time of the VM backup. However you should check with Oracle whether you will get back a working database when you restore the entire VM. If not, then you would have to restore the database afterwards
