How to recover Backup Exec media servers in another server?

Should we keep the same old hostname and IP media server?
Should I catalog the tape containing the backup of the catalog?

We have the following in a tape

Catalog backup
BEDB (ms-instance SQL Server Express BE)

Hi,

 

Ideally you'd want your media servers to be the same as this would mean no changes. However, this isn't always possible, so you can try the following:

1. Catalog the tape on the second media server.

2. Do a redirected restore to another folder on the second media server.

3. Stop the BE services, and then copy the restored files to the installed directory.

4. Open up BEutility, right-click your server name and choose the option to update the media server name.

Your services should then start up!
