How to test if a tape is in drive

 Hi All,

We are running servers with BkExec 9 in various offices, where no IT staff is working.
How can I test if tapes are in drive (standalone drive connected to server) in order to ask office staff to put a tape.

 Hello Dipto,

If you have remote access to the server.

Open BE, go to devices, right click on the tape drive and click inventory. This will tell you if theres a tape in the drive!!

If you schedule an inventory job for 30minutes before the backup job then if the inventory job fails you should be able to make it alert to somewhere/someone.

Note that is assuming version 9.x of Backup Exec allows the scheduling of Inventory jobs - newer versions of Backup Exec do.
