Hi, I have encountered an I/O error when trying to backup the system. The job was cancelled and the tape drive gone offline because of this. I have checked the cable is connected to the PC correctly. Very limited information I can get from the program. Could you help me solve the problem?

What is the exact model of the tape (library)?
Did you check windows event log? It may have hint about the hardware.
Also, did you update the latest firmware of tape and the driver in Windows?

IBM ULTRIUM-HH7 M571 is the device name. In the windows event log. It said "Adamm Mover Error: Unload Rewind Failure!". Another problem I have encounter is the driver. The driver I downloaded from dell said its not compatible with the system. It ends up using the latest driver as suggested by windows.

I would suggest to power cycle the tape drive and then restart the BE services.
Run a small test job and see if that now runs.
If not, try another tape; if that fails as well then you need to check the device itself of possible issues (assuming this all worked fine beforehand).

Worked well before? or it is a new tape drive?
You may check the log of tape drive.
IBM ULTRIUM-HH7 M571 is not tape drive model..

Thank you. Power cycle and restart services did the job. Now it is running a backup job. Will report back when it is done.

It is a new tape drive.
Model should be Dell Powervault LTO7.

If it happens again better to run a complete diagnostic on the Dell powervault.
were there any events in system event logs ( not application) when the error was seen in BE ?

It got errors again.
There was also another service error happened when the tape drive error was shown in the system log.
