Ideas for having a second BE server/Library in a DR facility...

Hello to all...

We are currently using BEWS12.5 SP2 fibre attached to two SL500 libraries in a prod environment.  For DR/Business Continuity purposes we are planning to have a second BEWS server and library sitting in a secondary location.

At the moment our Prod BEWS environment is using a local MSDE/SQL Express setup for the database.

On the surface BEWS doesn't really lend itself to porting/synching config including job definitions and in my experience, copying selection lists is hit and miss.

So i'm wondering, what are others doing along these lines?

If we swtiched to a full SQL DB, could we share it amongst both servers? Are the jobs in the db?etc,

Thanks.

G.

No idea on that. An option would be to set up that second server, and then copy the Data folder across every couple of days/every week. That way you'd have all your media information carrying across, and any changes to your jobs/selection lists. A long workaround, but it will work.
If you had a DR situation, take the tapes out of your live site, put them in the library in the DR site, inventory and go for it. You'd have to look at changing the Remote Agents to publish to your DR server in that case, but restores would work.
