I have configured symantec backup exec 2012 to run full backup on sunday and incrementals on weekday. Till today(28/02/2014) the backup has run. when I checked the backup exec schedule the next incremental was scheduled on 03/03/2014; but my incremental has to run on all weekdays but it excluded saturday. When I checked the calendar the backup exec has excluded all saturdays. But I want my incremental to run on all weekdays. Recently I have changed the settings to as below:
reconfigured the time in backup exec
Append period increased from 20 to 30 days
Overwrite protection period decreased to 1 day from 3 days
per the above the data will be appended to the tape for 30 days. I have set the overwrite protection period to 1 day. So the data will be protected for 31 days. My question is will the backup exec run on 31st day.

Weekdays do not include the weekend which is Saturdays and Sundays. If you want to the incremental to run on Saturdays, then you have to configure it to run everyday. On Sundays, if you set it to run at exactly the same time as the full backup, then it would be superceeded by the full backup and will not run.
per the above the data will be appended to the tape for 30 days. I have set the overwrite protection period to 1 day. So the data will be protected for 31 days.
No. As soon as the last job that writes to the tape, the OPP starts. If the last time the tape is written to is on the 10th day, then the tape would be protected for another day, i.e. until the 11th day. If you want to protect your tape for 30 days or 31 days, then set your OPP to 30 or 31 days.
