Installation of the Microsft Exchange Agent

Rolf_Mueller
Not applicable
Hello,

I purchased Backup Exec 11d including a range of remote agents through Dell.
I received two cases, each containing four CDs. Those four CDs are identical:

1. Backup Exec 11d for Windows Servers 32 bit version
2. Backup Exec 11d for Windows Servers x64 version
3. Continuous Protection Server 11d 32 bit / x64 versions
4. Symantec Backup Exec, remote agent for Linux or Unix, MAC systems, Windows NT Server.

I installed the x64 vesion on my media server, and did a remote
install of the agents on my exchange server. I can select
my sharepoint servers on my exchange server, but I do not
see any entry for the exchange server.

Since I have two set's of the CDs described above, but
one card with License Keys for Exec 11d, and one
card with License Keys for the Exchange agent, I assume
that one case has been packaged wrong.

Can anyone point me into the right direction?

Thanks and cheers,

Rolf

I assume when you say you can select your sharepoint servers but not your exchange server that you mean during a backup job Exchange resources are not visible...

The cd should not matter... when you installed Backup Exec and provided the serial number, did you also add the Exchange Agent serial number?  If unsure, check under Help\About and then License Information.  It should say YES next to Exchange if you did.

If not, just run "Tools\Install Options and License Keys" on the Backup Exec server and enter the Exchange Agent license number.

That's the most commmon reason Exchange does not show up in backup jobs.  If you have a serial number installed already, post up more about your environment.
