Installing the BE 2012 Agent for Windows fatal error

I was trying to update a Backup Exec 2012 agent and got the attached error message when trying to do so. I was doing a push instal. Right click>Update from the Media Server. Is there an easier way to do this? Can I do a manual instal? The 2 servers i need to update are on a seperate domain from the Media server. I am pretty sure that is what caused the issue. I was able to get everything set up and the backups work well, I just get this error when I try to update teh agent. Maybe I could do a manual update?

Hi Please check link below ,which describes different way and one of the way is to install it manually. http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH179142 Also one more thing when you install remote agent manually please manually establish trust between remote agent of remote server and remote agent of media server by following steps 1 Once done use remote agent utility of remote agent to configure publishing with fqdn name of media server. 2 Once you configure it you will see that remote server in backup restore console of backup exec. 3 Now you can backup this server. Please see link below which describes how to install remote agent locally and also how to enable publishing . http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH65151 Thanks

Thats great but I am already doing backups on these 2 servers. I just need to update the agents.. But as of now the bakups are already working. So I guess what I am asking is.. Isnt there already a trust between them if I am backing them up? Why can I back them uo but cant push the update?

Apart from an install of the complete agent, here is a way to manually install only the updates - http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH70657

Also since this is an update, will i need to complete all of the steps below? By that I mean if I do a manual update, since it is already installed wouldnt it simply just update the agent or would it make me do all the setup like in this attachment?

Only installing updates should be good enough, as trust relationship must be already established

at the time of initial installation, if in case you come across any failure with security errors than you

should complete above steps.

Nopes, these steps would not be required..just double-clicking the .msp installs the required updates..

further on double-checking, per this KB - http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=S:TECH58186

Looks, like there is another option for BE 2012 for manually applying the updates..Verbatim ~

2. Copy the Remote Agent installation files from C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\RAWS32 (for 32bit) or C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\RAWSX64 (for x64bit) to the server where the Remote Agent is installed.  Once copied run the setupaa.cmd file to update the Remote Agent.
