Hey Guy I'm trying to do a test restore for a client to make sure everything working ok. They are using Backup Exec 2010R3 and when I try to do an inventory it nevers quits. From my memory inventory's usually take no more than a couple of minutes. I have let it run for 15min before stopping it. I have verifed that the tape is in the tape drive and it is the tape from last night's backup. Any suguestions?

Check the alerts tab for any active alerts waiting for your response.

When the Inventory job is running double click on the Active job and check if the Current Status shows anything like Server Paused...??

Ok got the Inventory to start running by restarting all the services associated with the backup. Now I'm trying to do a catalog and it does meading loading for a couple of seconds and then just sits their as queued.

Can please provide the tape drive or tape library model?
Are you using Symantec drivers? The backup to tape ever success before?

If the job does not quit and if it is in a QUEUED state, pause an unpause the servername which would be under devices tab on the backup exec UI....
