Hi,

how to enable backup VM HyperV Cluster via SAN to tape? Backup server is physical, tape hardware is directly attached to backup server using fibre.

Thanks.

Unfortunately this is a limitation of the environment and not specifically something to do with Backup Exec - Hyper-V hosts themselves do not provide an Off-Host/San Transport capability - VMware hosts do have this capability which is why we can backup over SAN with VMware.

As such the only ways to achieve a backup that does not use the production LAN backups with Hyper-V are:

1) Make the Hyper-V host into a Backup Exec server and directly attach the backup devices to it.

2) Use a secondary / backup LAN network with multiple NICs

I was looking for this solution for a long time ago. Unfortunately, BE doesn't support it.
