I am not backing up nearly the data that I used to in this particular dedupe folder. Is there a way to shrink it? I am going to be moving it and want it as small as it is supposed to be before I mess with it.
thanks

I don't think you can shrink the dedup folder. The twice-daily maintenance job will compact and re-claim unneeded space within the OST files, but it does not release the actual disk space.

That is a total bummer.

Agreed. The bucket is created, data fills in to the bucket. The compaction process will mark the data for overwritting or deletion, but the bucket is still taking up the same amount of space.
This was done for performance reasons to prevent fragmentation of contstantly creating, shirnking, and deleting files on disk.
