Hello!

We have a cluster with 5 nodes windows 2012 r2/hyper-v, and have a job to backup some virtual machines. About 2 weeks ago we got an error The job ends with error - 0xe00081d9 - The Backup Exec job engine system service is not responding.

And now the error still exists - we tryied restart the server/windows updates/backup exec updates, check vss status on the cluster nodes... no success. Before it works fine.

The error happaned at the and of the job, and the JOb status set to Recovered and the job starts again and again and again... till manual cancelation...

Any ides are welcome!

Hi,

I'd check these 2 to start:

1. Check and see if any Windows updates were applied. I've seen (in real life, and on the forums) how Windows updates can break BE at times. it becomes a manual uninstall/reinstall of updates until you know which update broke BE;

2. Check that any AV installed isn't perhaps blocking the service, and put in exclusions for them.

You can also try the following:

1. Run beutility.exe to repair the BEDB (makes no changes);

2. Repair BE itself.

Thanks!
