Hi ,

Does every running backupjob have a separate service under w2k and w2k3 as in netbackup that you just kill the pid of one running job to cancel it.
When I try to cancel a running job it just ends up in a cancel pending status and there is no other way to get rid of these jobs other then rebooting the server or recycling all the BE services.

There is no seperate service for a running job.

You will have to cancel the job if it does not cancel then stop and retart the services or as last resort wil have to reboot the server.

To force cancel a running job. this is how i do it:
1. cancel the running job (status will change and stuck to "cancel pending") and exit BE
2. stop Backup Exec Job Engine Service (after you get an error mesg, you'll see the service stopped)
3. restart Backup Exec Server Service
4. start Backup Exec Jon Engine Service
5. open BE. voila, the job is cancelled
