Hello,

I am using one LTO-5 Tape for backup and media ID is A00126 and backup is stored on this tape too.

But everytime, after some days media ID is changed automatically.

How do I solve this problem, Please Suggest.

Thanks  & Regards,

Shashank Saxena

Hi, Are you using labels, or letting Backup Exec label the tapes when the job is done? If the latter, then the labels might be expected to change...best bet is to use labels as BE cannot change this. Thanks!

Hello,

Thanks for the support, but we use tape media which will generate automatically when the new tape inserted for the first time.

Thanks & Regards,

Shashank

I then think that a new serial number is generated every time the backup runs...barcode labels fix this.

When you are not using bar code labels, the media ID of a used tape should not change unless you run a "label" job.  I suspect that you are having some hardware or cartridge issues that make BE think this is a new tape. In that case the media ID would increment sequentially.

suggestions: Clean the tape drive. Try another cartridge.  Check your hard & soft error counts for the tape drive and the media.  Run vendor diagnostics on the tape drive.
