LTO4 and 5 drive in same library

We have a LTO4 and 5 drive in the same library and currently using all LTO4 tapes.  If I wanted to introduce LTO5 tapes in LTO5 drive, what needs to be configured on Backup Exec 2010 R3?

I presume that you have an additional LEO licence because you have both drive working properly in your library.

To use LTO5 tapes in your library, you would have to set up barcode rules.  This is because your LTO4 tape drive cannot read/write LTO5 tapes.  The barcode rules will prevent this from happening.  See my article below on how to setup your barcode rules

If you are not using barcode labels, read my other article on how to get started

Hi If you are going to use LTO5 tape drive and LTO5 tapes then please note few things 1 If this will be a standalone tape drive ,then no need of extra license as backupexec supports N, number of single tape drive with single LEO license which is part of base license. If this is library with single tape drive then too one LEO is fine.for additional tape drive in library or for adding anpther library LEO will be required. 2 In device manager the drive should be using latest symantec tape drivers, for latest drivers ensure backupexec is fully patched and used tape I St to install and. uninstall tape drivers. http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH1793 3 Once done restart the server if required and you should see the tape drive listed in backupexec to use. Thanks
