Hi!

I am updating Backup Exec 12 through live update from tools menu but whenever it downloads and installs any update, Backup Exec services stop and then i have to restart the services manually. Is it a normal behaviour or what is the proper way to update it and what are the account recommendations for starting Backup Exec Services? Is using the Domain Admin account is better to start Backup Exec Services or a local account?

This is not a normal behavior, services should start automatically after live update complete

Have you checked the start up type for backup services. It should be Automatic....

You can keep any thing local account or domain login (user) make sure account should have domain admin rights. for taking exchange backup it should be MAPI enable and for MS SQL database it should have access on all databases. prefer to make service account in AD.
