Mac agent: You must purchase a license key.. but the backup work!

Hi! The backup of my Mac OSX 10.5 server always have the error :
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe000fe3c - Before you can back up this resource, you must purchase and install a license key for the appropriate Backup Exec agent. See the job log for details.

But the backup work! But not incremental, its always full, I guess because of the "error".
The data is on a SAN, but its a normal backup with the mac agent, does it need a san agent?

Not sure what to check next, the server is a BE 12.5Sp2, and the agent is the latest.
All my other other backup (Windows, Linux, Netware), the incremental and full work.

If someone has an idea,
Thank you,
Eric.

Hi Eric,

You'd need an agent to backup that Mac unfortunately.
Did you perhaps use the 60-day trial license, which would explain your backups initially working?

Laters!

Do you mean a SAN agent?  I already have 2 Macintosh agent licensed entered into the BE server (but backing up just one for now).

Try removing and re-adding the RAMS license key from installation wizard.

Thanks

Hi remove the Mac agents Licenses, close, and install them back and the backup is the same.
Everything is on the tape, but I still have "you must purchase..."

One thing, there's 2 sections on the log for the detail information:

First:
Set Detail Information - Backup \\server.cc.cc
Set type               : Backup
Set status             : Completed
Set description        :
Resource name          : \\server.cc.cc
Logon account          : root
Encryption used        : None
Agent used                     : Yes
Advanced Open File Option used : No
Byte count             : 0 bytes
Rate                   : 0.00 MB/Min
Files                  : 0
Directories            : 0
Skipped files          : 0
Corrupt files          : 0
Files in use           : 0
Start time             : Thursday, November 12, 2009 2:49:36 AM
End time               : Thursday, November 12, 2009 2:49:36 AM

Second:
Set Detail Information - Backup \\server.cc.cc\[ROOT]
Set type               : Backup
Set status             : Completed
Set description        :
Resource name          : \\server.cc.cc\[ROOT]
Logon account          : root
Encryption used        : None
Agent used                     : Yes
Advanced Open File Option used : No
Byte count             : 355,469,750,089 bytes
Rate                   : 832.00 MB/Min
Files                  : 1,474,076
Directories            : 286,558
Skipped files          : 9
Corrupt files          : 0
Files in use           : 0
Start time             : Thursday, November 12, 2009 2:51:06 AM
End time               : Thursday, November 12, 2009 9:38:14 AM

And the error:
V-79-57344-65084 - Before you can back up the resource (\\server.cc.cc), you must purchase and install a license key for the appropriate Backup Exec agent.

It seems that the error come from the root of the server, and the [ROOT] work.
In the view selection details of the job, they all have the [ROOT] at the end.

Someone has an idea?
thank you
Eric.

Is the number of servers selected in the selection list, same as the number of licenses you have entered? Mac agent license is based on number of servers you want to backup. So, can you verify the license whether you have entered appropriate number of licenses.

Thanks

I have 2 licenses for Mac Agent, and I'm backuping just 1 server for now!
I have 3 jobs, one for the Netware servers, one for the Windows servers and one for the Mac server.
The first 2 work fine.

Hi Eric,

Next thing to try is to go into your selection list, delete all the entries in the selection list and then re-add them.
Try that, see if it helps.
