Managing BE enviroment with CASO

mrzepecki

Hello,

is it possible to manage about 30 BE servers using CASO, from dfferent locations?

I would like to install remote console in each of 30 locations  to communicate with CASO. Management and monitoring will be centralized (one central CASO).

I would like every local Admin can manage backups for his VMs (running on local cluster).

We have one vSphere - about 30 clustrs in different locations.

One Backup Exec centalized system.

But we would like to manage local backups by local admins throug remote console conecting to CASO.

Is it possible? Are there any roles and permisions to connect to CASO?

Hi,

Yes it is...add the remote servers to the CASO and make sure you choose the correct location for catalogs and job information. Read the TN below on this:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO23395

In order to let remote site admins manage the servers, I used the BE Remote Console...read my article on this below, and it worked very well:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/how-leverage-backup-execs-remote-console

Locating your catalogs and job information in the correct place is key...centralising on the CASO would mean that if it was down, no backups would run for instance on the MMS servers until communication was reestablished.

Thanks!
