Maximum Client Side Deduplication Hosts

We have a Backup Exec 3600 appliance with Backup Exec 2012 on it. I don't think my question is appliance related which is why it is here. We have over 100 servers set up for backup to the deduplication storage on the appliance. I noticed an error message stating that only 64 hosts can use client side deduplication and after that it will use server side deduplication. I found a Symantec article for Backup Exec 2010 stating this but not for 2012. I can't seem to find the article again for some reason but my question is if I want to change the hosts that are using client side deduplication can I set the other hosts to server side deduplication? I'm not sure how it keeps track of which 64 hosts have it but I have changed my larger jobs to use the client side deduplication and changed the smaller ones to server side. Will updating it like this work?

I think hte limit is 64 for both BE 2010 and BE 2012.

Are these the docs you were looking for?

Sorry, I don't know how the limit is enforced, but I think your method sounds reasonable.

Yes, setting some servers to server-side deduplication will free up some 'slots' for other servers to use client-side deduplication.

Backup Exec is aware because each time client-side deduplication is enabled, the deduplication storage is shared with the client.
