I'm trying to run a test backup on a remote server, basically to confirm that the tape handlers have loaded a tape in the drive. I've set up 2 scheduled jobs. The first inventory's the tape device, the second runs the Test backup. My problem is that all media that has ever been used is currently showing as Online, even though the tape drive is empty. This causes the Test backup to run successfully, even though I'd like it to fail because there is no media in the drive. Does anyone know why this is occuring? I'm running 10.0 Rev. 5520, but the same thing is occuring on a server with BE 9.1 Rev.4691.
I have some servers with BE 11D, and only media actually in the tape drive is reported as Online, which is the expected behaviour as far as I can see.
