Migrate Backup Exec 2014 to New Server with Backup Exec 15.

Hi VOX Community,

I am new here, recently i start learning backup exec, just this week i have new task to migrate Backup Exec 2014 to new server with Backup Exec 15.

Current Configuration

Backup Exec 2014 version 14.1 Rev 1786 on Windows Server 2008 R2

New Server Configuration

New Server with Backup Exec 15 is using Windows Server 2012 R2

Plan to migrate all old backup data include the deduplication backup data, i try to find relevant document for the task but having some confusion, if anyone can help me point to relevant documentation or provide guide step by step is good enough.

Hi,

Your first part of the upgrade is to upgrade the current server to BE 15 with the latest Feature Pack. Migrating to a new server running a new version is going to cause some issues and a longer migration path.

Stop the BE services and grab manual copies of the Data/Catalogs folders first. Once done, follow the TN below to migrate to the new server:
