Hi

First of all in BE 2012 there are no policy as like earlier version of backup exec ,So if you want to migrate policy from BE 2010 to BE 2012 that is not possible

Morever it is important to understand that BE 2012 is different than earlier version of backup exec , and has different approach ,BE 2012 rely on server centric approach (for each server ,it own job and job logs) wereas earlier version rely on resource centric approach were you can have mutiple server in one selection and job monitor to view them centrally, So if you don't have many jobs would be good to begin from Scratch on BE 2012.

Please read the upgrade guide which explains all this

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH180232

But if you have lot of jobs then best is to migration of your database from BE 2010 to BE 2012 which will migrate the jobs and other settings

The below document is considering BE 2010 is on different server and BE 2012 is different server and you want to migrate

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH67296

Hope that helps

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Yes i have already started everything new but is there a way to select different folders for different backup jobs or all the jobs will go to the same storage under BE Data.

Thanks.

Hi,

Backup Exec 2012 now enforces one B2D folder per drive.

Take a look at this link that goes over some of the new ways that 2012 manages media. http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH180232

Hope this helps.
