Migrate from windows NT backup to Backup exec

Dear All,

We are having windows 2003 SP2 server running NT backup to backup the data. As windows 2003 is going to be obselete we are migrating our servers from windows 2003 sp2 to windows 2008/2012. In this process we want the NT backup jobs and catelogs to be migrated to symantec backup exec supported version.

If there is possiblity of migrating window NT backup exec to symantec backup exec please share the steps to perform and also the technical challeges

No. There is no way to migrate the NT backup jobs and catalog. However, you can try to catalog the backup sets in BE. Upon successful catalog you would be able to restore from these backup sets.

Not just Windows NT, I don't really think you can migrate backup jobs from any other software into BE or vice-versa as every software's schema is different. However, NT backup sets are written in the same backup format as that of BE (.bkf and MTF) and you may be able to catalog and restore them.
