Hi,

You're going to have to do a multi-step upgrade first. Move from BE 11d to BE 2010 R3, and from there migrate to BE 2012 w/SP3 on the server.

Once done, you're in a position to migrate to the appliance.

Check the 2 TNs below to see which is valid for your setup:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH67768

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH129826

Bear in mind that the appliance is seriously locked down, and you'd need to get it up to the patch level you want to be at before doing the same on the stand-alone server.

Before doing anything though, grab copies of the Data and Catalogs folders.

Thanks!

Since the jobs in BE 2012 is very different from that of BE 11d, it might be easier to just create new jobs in the appliance and then inventory and catalog all the existing media.

Hi Craig,

Once the existing BE 11d is upgraded to 2010R3, will it be possible to take the catalogs to appliance. If yes, please share knowledge.

...if the appliance runs BE 2010 R3, then 1 of those TNs above is valid and you can follow it per the steps.

Thanks!
