Mode sense error status: Unable to sense robotic device

Backup server :---> Redhat enterprise server version 4
Tape library :--> Power vault 136T connected to netapp filer ( Storage device ) using optic fibre connection.
Backup type :---> ndmp backup being fired every night 9 pm and 00:00am

Is it true that this is problem is something to do with device mapping only?
