Monthly Full Backup failed with error code E000FE36 in the past 2 months ?

Hi,

I'm running Backup Exec 2012 v14.0 Rev. 1798 and for some reason I got this one monthly full backup job that is always failing with the error code E000FE36.

After it failed, it then resumed again as I post this thread.

Here's the error message code V-79-57344-65078:BE.JPG

Upon browsing to the directory that was mentioned above, it is still exists and already there. no one deleting or modified the directory in the same server where BE 2012 is running.

See the directory properties below, it is created long time ago:

Hi,

You would enable Advanced Open File Option, and leave it on Automatic. BE will choose the provider to use.

That said, make sure that folder actually exists on the NAS...

Thanks!

Enable shadow copies on the volume and ensure no limit is set.

If running any AV scans, set it to exclude from scanning the BE processes.

In addition to enabling AOFO within BE, enable Shadow Copies on the remote machine's volume as well and set no limit.

This is fine as per BE. Right-click the E:\ volume and choose Properties. Click on the Shadow Copies tab and set Enable after highlighting the E:\ volume. Click on Settings and set it to No Limit.

The E: drive size is 12 TB, and I wonder if I must enable the VSS to successfully backup the content of this drive ?

Note: the disk space utilization is 90% full.

ok, Thanks for the suggestion Craig.

So in this case how can I make sure that AOFO is enabled on the backup job ?

does enabling the Shadow Copies is the same as enabling the VSS support ?

Hi John,

You'd do this in BE itself.

Thanks!

Hi VJ,

How to enable the VSS on he backup job or the E: drive of the Windows Server ?

Ok, I have verified the backup job that it does use the AUTOMATIC mode for the VSS:

VSS.JPG

is that correct ?

Further details, I have also selected this option when backing up the backup file from another 3rd party backup software called Veeam Backup.

see the option that I mention:

Hi VJware, the drive where the backup is failed, is the same server (Local E: drive). So how do i enable the Volume Shadow Copies on Win 2008 R2 ?

however, I have made the changes in the backup job as follows:

Lock_0.JPG

would that be correct ?

Hi VJware,

is it going to cause any disk capacity issue when I enable the VSS on the E: drive ?

VSS_0.JPG

I have kicked off the backup job now as we speak, would that cause the backup to be failed ?

ok, it seems that I do not need to enable the Shadow Copies, the backup job was finished successfully after changing the AOFO method to use the Windows VSS.
