You might consider upgrading from BE 12.0 to 2010 first & then undergo an OS change..

Refer to http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH67296
Note: Step#9 is the most important step, dont miss it

Thanks AmolZeroCool,
I will give that a try.
I'm guessing we have to install BE12 on the new 2008 server first, put in the data and catalog from the old server, then upgrade to BE2010, which in turn updates the db, data, catalog, etc...

You need to install BE2010 R3 and then import the data & catalogs folder.
Also you need to makes changes in the registry before performing "BEMIG"
Read the article carefully.

BE 12 cannot be installed on a Windows 2008R2 server !

...if you read VERY carefully you will see that the OP has BE 12 installed on Windows Server 2003, and wants to move to BE 2010 on the server he will install Windows Server 2008 R2 on!

Yes, and if you read carefully the topicstarter says to install BE 12 on his Windows 2008R2 server, which is not supported.

was in response to AmolZeroCool response about step #9.
To me step 9 shouldn't be ran in this scenario, as it states it shouldn't run if the 2 servers are running different operating systems.
It might be best to upgrade to BE2010 first, then migrate the config to the 2008R2 server.

Yes, that is also what VJware sugested.
Because it is a two way upgrade, you may have some more time to get it working properly.
