My tapes disappear of supports Group

Hello everyone.

I have a curious problem. I have a tape drive "IBM HH LTO Gen 5" in which the tape manually exchanged daily. Label the tape and add it correctly to a media set. The fact is that the backup is successful, but every time I draw the tape from the unit, it does not appear in the media set offline.

Do you have any idea why could this happen?

I use Backup Exec 2010 R3

Greetings.

Hi,

Could be that it isn't updating correctly within BE. try running a BEDB repair using BEutility.exe.

That said, since it's a stand-alone drive it should be OK if it doesn't show in Offline. If you want it to show up there, then move it there and it should update.

Post back with an update...

Thanks!

The Offline status is used when you are using a tape library.  When a tape library is exported/removed from a tape library, it is automatically moved to Offline.

For stand-alone library, you would need to set up a Vault rule and then run the Vault wizard to move the tapes to Offline.  When the tape comes back, you would then have to move them back online using the Vault wizard.

Next Tuesday will prove both solutions. I will comment if it works.

Thank you very much.
