“One of our Partners is asking the following question:

Can the NDMP option be used to backup a NAS filer (FAS202) across to a remote BE12.5 Media Server with attached MSL4048 with driver 1760 SAS?

According to the HCL, the MSL4048 with driver 1760 SAS is not supported for NDMP, but I presume that this is only when the Library is directly attached to the NAS?”

What do you mean by "a remote BE 12.5 media server"?  Is this a SAN?
Do you simply want to move data from a NAS to a BE server (via ethernet) to a tape library (via SAS)?
