NFR License Expiration

Jerobs

Backups are failing becuase our license expired.  Our non-profit purchased a NFR license for Backup Exec 20 last year through TechSoup.  When I purchased the license, it was decribed as this...

12951-M1 - BACKUP EXEC SERVER ED WIN ONPREMISE NFR PERPETUAL LICENSE CORPORATE

I guess I'm confused on the perpetual part.  Why am I having to renew if my license is perpetual?  Further, tech soup no longer sells licenses for BE20, just BE21 now.  Does that mean I have to scrap my backups, unistall 20, install 21, apply the license, and re-set up my backups?  That seems excessive.

Hi there,

The NFR license for BE works slightly differently than regular licenses. Have you tried installing the new license and see if it works? If not, you may need to upgrade to version 21 then install the new license. You will not lose any of your backups.

I would suggest contacting your Veritas local office or partner to sort out this quickly.
