you can use both veritas and nt backup with same media device. But it is not a recommened way.
Better to configure seperate devices if you are necessary to use both.  If you use both, before using the tape device with NTBackup, ensure that all Backup Exec services are stopped. You also have to make sure that the removable storage management service is running.
Also the veritas drivers for the tape drive must also be uninstalled.

hi shirmal,

Thanks for your help. This is not that necessary for me. I need to know whether it's possible to do.

The latest Backup Exec versions no longer support running in parallel with the Removable Storage Manager (which is needed by Windows Backup)
As such if you have an older version of Backup Exec then you may be able to configure limited use of both Windows backup and Backup Exec on the same system, however if you are running current versions then the answer is no. Bear in mind that even on the older versions Symantec recommend using our tape drivesr which might have an adverse affect on the Windows backup programs.

As Colin, says "not recommended"

You can, if you REALLY need to use NTBackup, shut down BackupExec for as long as you need to, then restart it afterwards
