Need Help Setting up my Backup Exec 2010R3

lrazo
Not applicable

I have Backup Exec 2010 R3 setup to backup 2 Scheduled Jobs. I only want the data to be retained for 2 days and then overwrite data older than 2 days.

Under Media Management Level: I have Partial - Protect only allocated Media w/ Prompt Unselected

Media Overwrite Options i have : Overwrite scratch media before overwriting recyclable media

Under Media Set Properties: Media Set Periods::: Overwrite Protection Period 2 Days

                                               Append Period ::::: 2 Days

Going back to the current Jobs i have scheduled, i have 2 Scheduled Jobs. Job #1 starts at 8:00PM and completes Successfully, Job # 2 starts at 9:00PM

Only job #1 completes and Job #2 Prompts "Please insert overwriteable Media into the backup-to-disk Device" and will sit there till the morning of the following day.

I only have 1 tape Drive Per day, (5 Total tapes) every day I Swap out (Monday for Last Weeks Monday, Tuesday for tuesday and so on)

How do i make the Prompts an automatic thing?

Thanks in Advanced.

For my article which was referenced earlier, take particular note of the section on overlapping jobs.  Also, if you are using a stand-alone tape drive, you should not check the "Eject tape after job complete" option for the first job.  Otherwise, you would need someone to insert the tape for the second job.
