Team,

All the backups were completed succesfully & I can see all the data in Restore windows without any error. but the Job is completed with the below error :

V-79-57344-65072 - The connection to target system has been lost. Backup set canceled.
V-79-57344-65072 - The connection to target system has been lost. Backup set canceled.

What would be the reason???

Check the following

1) on the remote server, check that the remote agent service is running.  Also check the Windows Eventlog for any remote agent service failures.

2) open the remote agent utility and make sure that it is publishing correctly to the media server

3) make sure that you can ping from the media server to the remote server and vice-versa

4) make sure that there is no firewall blocking port 10000

5) on the remote server, check that there are no other applications using port 10000.

What is the OS on the remote server that you are backing up?

Are you backing up CIFS shares?

...what happens if you do a redirected restore of the data? Does it fail again?

@Craig,

No Restores are not gettign failed.
In fact DATA of all the servers also backup perfectly. But the Job fails with the below mentioned error.

@Kunal

Remote server : Windows 2003.

No Shares were confgired in the backup.

Adding to this, Recently I have ran symantec live update and installed latest patch (Service Pack 1 to Service pack 3).

For 2 days backups were ran fine & alter again started failing.
