New 10d SP1 Installation - 2000 SP4 Server - Backup Exec Service Terminates

Hi there,

I have a customer who is attempting to install Backup Exec 10d on to a Windows 2000 Server with SP4.

Once installation is complete the Backup Exec Services attempt to start and report "Event ID 7031 The service terminated unexpectedly."

It also reports that the service did not return an error. They have updated Backup Exec to 10d SP1, but the issue still remains.

Backup Exec services run under Administrator and i have advised to create a new account for bk_exec with admin rights for it to use, i'm, not sure if this will help with resolving the issue.

The server also has 2 bespoke application on it, Control & iBase, but nothing else of any note.

The customer has also installed Backup Exec on other servers within the domain with no issues.

Can anyone help with this?

Many thanks

Jon

Hi,

Which Backup Exec Service is giving this error ?

Is remote agent service running under Local System account ?

Run repair installation and try starting services again.
