New to Backup Exec, MS Exchange question.

Hello

We would like to put Backup Exec on our Win2k3 Exchange (2003) server. What is the difference between Backup Exec for Windows Servers and Backup Exec for Windows Agent for Exchange Server?

"Combined with its existing family of high performance agents and options to Microsoft Exchange" Does this mean we need to purchase only the agent product or do you need to purchase Backup Exec plus the Exchange agent?

Many Thanks

Luke

You would need to purchase the BE software to put on which ever server is going to control your backups. Then you be able to backup Microsoft Exchange you will need the Remote Agent. This applies even if your Exchange server is still your media server.

Thanks for the replies. It seems that Backup Exec for Windows Servers, is the server side in a client-server setup. The agent (client) for exchange communicates with the server.

Thanks
