Not appendable (End marker unreadable)

When a tape that contains data is suddenly marked as "End marker unreadable", is this tape still valid if it has backup data from other jobs that completed successfully or is the whole tape SoL and requires quick/long erase?

If you open a restore job, any data that appears in the selection  window should be restoreable.

Once you get this error, you cannot append anymore, but a new Overwrite should reinitialize the tape
