Notification is not printing the log file correctly.

I have recently upgraded Backup Exec from 11d to 12.0. The backup job is configured to send a notification to go to our network printer, and I have checked "Include job log with a notification...".  When the job completes the notification prints fine but the log file prints as a garbled mess. This worked fine under version 11d. I am able to print the job log manually without a problem, and a test print from the properties within the application works fine.

Experiencing the same issue with 12.5, an HP LaserJet 4300 with PCL5e drivers, any thoughts?

Actually, while further researching this error I found this document on the Symantec support site.

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/303725.htm (Also found at this link - http://support.veritas.com/docs/303725)

Apparently this is a known issue. Doc has not been updated since 10/16/08 tho, so I don't know if any progress has been made....

Since those documents don't seem to have a real solution, other than to print it manually, you might want to consider trying a rule in Outlook if you use it as your mail client. If you use Exchange, you would want the rule to reside on the server so you don't have to keep a PC running with Outlook open. This is usually the default, and it will notify you if your local rules conflict with your server rules.

Set up your BE notifications to include the log in an e-mail to yourself. In Outlook 2007, the rules option is under Tools. You can create a rule to print the attachments that come in from the e-mail address. This most likely will not print garbled text.

Not fixed, but at least then it is automated.
