ltjimster

I think i've set it up right but nothing has come through when i ran a testrun job saying it was successful and other details, also i ticked the "Include job log" as well.

I went through this article http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH23461

I'm running Backup Exec 2010 R3

Thanks

James

If you uncheck "include job log" do you receive the notification ?

Uncheck "enable" for limit number of notifications sent from notification properties...

I've unchecked the job log and the limit of notifications was already unchecked, still nothing :( :(

Is it pretty instant or does it take a bit of time to come though??

Thanks

Does your mail server require any sort of authentication or encrytption such as TLS or SSL ? If yes, email notifications would prolly wont work...

also, test smtp port 25 using telnet...

if using any AV such as Mcafee, ensure it is not blocking the port/notification...

Im not sure i'll have to find out that bit.

I did click on the "test" button in the Person Recipient properties in the SMTP mail tab and it said " a test notification has been queued for delivery to the selected recipient "

Thanks

queued for delivery is the appropriate response....if you dont receive the notification after some time as well, you prolly would need to look for why...

1. Go to the Backup Exec install directory and double-click on SgMon.exe

2. Select

- Job Engine, RAWS, Agent Browser

- Backup Exec Server

- Administration Console

and keep SGmon minimized.

3. Go to Tools - Recipients - Select a User - Properties - Test (to send a test notification)

4. Check if you received the notification?

5. If not received, copy and past the output of SGmon here. (I'm looking for the Notify Return code if any)

Hi,

This is a dead topic...no need to bring it up. Please PM (after checking the date of the last post) the OP to see if they are still interested in solving it.

Thanks!

This was listed in "Can you solve these?" section.

Is there a way such forum posts can be locked? That would help!

...they get locked after 3 or 4 months of non-activity. If it is a couple of weeks old that's fine, but with no activity after 2 or 3 months it's kind of dead...hence PM'ing the OP.

This post was created on 19th April 2012 (if i'm not mistaken). How can this be classified as a dead post?

6 weeks...no activity...no update. This is kind of dead. Not going to split hairs. Please just PM the user in this case (2 or 3 weeks is fine)...this just resets the clock on these topics.

Go back and see how many topics are just left as-is and you'll get the idea.

Can we have a "Featured" post explaining this 'dead topic' thing to others too?

Because, there are several posts which keep flashing on the "Can you solve these?" section and someone or the other would want to help (and have knowledge on how to resovle it). They would go ahead and post their comments (since these are not locked), not knowing that this would reset the clock on these topics. (like what happened with me)

Or

Is there an option to remove that "Can you solve these?" facet to avoid such instances?

This technote describes the same problem you're facing and should help you resolve the issue :

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH130436 - Unable to send SMTP or MAPI Notifications, Return Code: 800e0008 or 800d0013 observed in SGmon.log

Let me know if  Telnet <Exchange Server Name> 25  worked?
