It was a pleasure hosting our Veritas Backup Exec 20.1 launch Webinars.

If you’ve participated in the previous Backup Exec launch webinars, these ones were a little different.  Prior webinars were focused on new feature and best practices.

But this webinar was different, and one of many more to come, where we will provide insights to industry trends and why are we doing, what we are doing along with features tours of Backup Exec and how to’s on using the platform to help you better manage and protect your data.

Today Backup Exec is used by millions of customers in 200 countries protecting over 65 million terabytes of data.

If you have followed our journey over the last couple years, you’ve noticed that we has evolved into a much stronger platform with continuous streams of feature updates as well as fixes to ensure we are continually delivering value to our customers along the way.

We shifted to agile development methodology which was a major revamp to our delivery vehicle. This set the tone for better user experience, support of our growth and help to improve our development process so we can bring you cool new features and enhancements faster than ever before.

It has been busy last few months here at Veritas, where behind the scenes we have been working hard to bring you this new Backup Exec.

If you are a Backup Exec (post Backup Exec 2012) user, you’ll actually see little cosmetic difference – sans the new Veritas branding and new widgets for advanced cloud and virtual protection.  This was done so you’ll feel right at home, but there are numerous new features and improvements that are spread throughout our latest version.

It was a full house with many attendees getting engaged throughout the webinar and lot of great questions from engaged viewers.

Here’s what we covered

  • Day-one support for new version of VMware - Backup Exec now supports vSphere 6.7, vCenter 6.7, ESXi 6.7, vSAN 6.7, and virtual volumes (VVOLs)
  • Data Insight and Immersive visualization with Information Map integration
  • Enhanced deduplication to on premise, public and hybrid cloud storage
  • Comprehensive cloud capabilities supporting public, private and hybrid cloud configurations and direct connectors for Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud Object Storage, Infoniqa SWISS3CLOUD, and others
