Refer to this post https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/linux-remote-client-ralus-2010-prepost-commands-remot... (is says that:

The pre/post commands are designed for windows systems only.

I would recommend that you look at using the CRON utility to schedule commands in Linux/Unix.)

which belong to BE'2010 is something changed in Backup Exec 2012?

P.S. My configuration is SymBE'2012 with latest updates and RHEL 6.0-6.3.

He has gone off with the wrong impression that pre-/post-command does not work for Linux systems because he has marked your answer as the solution.

Pre/Post commands should work with Linux.

Please also note that update 3 for RHEL 6.0 is not supported yet (http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH175581).

Should? Why not must?

OK, let me re-phrase it...

Pre/Post commands for Linux are supported. So they should work but we cannot guarantee they will work on unsupported versions of Linux (see SCL).

If they don't work, feel free to open a support case.
