Preformance degreation

Does anyone know if backing up a sql database while in production causes any preformance degradation on the SQL Server? And if so, how much?

Hi,

Backing up SQL database during production hours could hamper the performance to some extent. However, it depends upon lot of factors, like network, DB access ets. Therefore it is a better idea to take backup of the production database when the load is minimum.
