Problem after removing tapedrive !!!

 Hello,

I have a 2000 SERVER running BE8.6..

After the failure of my Onstream DI-30 i replaced it with the Sony AIT SDX-420.
The Sony is recognized in the bios and in the device manager but Veritas does not recognize it.
I downloaded (as given in the website) the latest Veritas drivers, but no effect.

PROBLEM : How can Veritas detect my Sony AIT tapedrive?

 Also try deleting the Onstream and Sony AIT and the drivers in the wizard hardware.
Reboot and install the drivers again and see.
I too have an experience with Sony and after doing this, it became visible in BE.

Check this:
In Backup Exec, go to Device tab, can you see the drive there?
If so, right click and see if ENABLED is checked. If not, go to properties and check the box for Enable device for Backup Exec.
If it's not showing up in BE, stop the Backup Exec services. Reboot your tape device. When the device is backup restart the BE Services.

1  : Go to the Devices TAB.
2  : Right Click the Drive-->Disable...Right click again-->Delete
3  : Recycle Backup Exec Services...This will force Backup Exec to see the Sony Drive
