Testing Backup Exec 2010 (SP1) on backup Oracle (10g Release 2) databases. Media Server is on WS 2008 R2 64bit, BE Oracle Agent is on WS 2003.
Where to look for the possible source of trouble? Thank you.

Did you fire the restore job or aren't you able to select anything in the restore window.

Sorry. Didn't mention the fact that for backup and rocovery RMAN is being used (used option to compress the image). Specifically SEND command is used. As I understand SEND command in RMAN uses variable to point to machine (=backup image name). This doesn't work.

Have look on the following doc http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO24303
look the following line.
If you attempt to use a DBA-initiated restore job to restore a datafile, a tablespace, or a database that is online, a message appears on the RMAN console. The message indicates that the restore cannot be performed because Oracle does not allow the restore of these items if they are online. However, this message is not reported to Backup Exec. Therefore, the DBA-initiated restore job is reported in Backup Exec as completing successfully.

Interesting. It appears that online database couldn't be restored. On the other hand archivelog mode of Oracle database allows RMAN to perform hot backup for such kind of database. And you know what? The database that fails to restore is similar to the test one except one thing - it is in archivelog mode. Resuming - Oracle DB in archivelog mode fails to restore, but could be backed up successfully.. strange behavour..
Share thoughts. I will be reading further both documentation and your comments.
