Problem with Sony SDX-450V and Backup Exec 9.0

I have recently installed a new tapedrive (Sony SDX-450V) on a Windows 2000 server(running Terminal Server services). I'm not able to do any backups or do anything else with the tapedrive.

when i run for an example an inventory i get this error message in the job log:

"Final error code: a0008101 HEXFinal error description: Invalid Physical Volume Library Argument."

when i run the device configuration wizard, it finds the hardware but fails to recognize the device, and shows "***" where you have to choose media type.

I checked out the HCL for 9.x and Sony SDX 450V appears on the list. I've installed all the latest Service packs and patches for Backup Exec 9.0

I've tried two other different backup software , which works fine with this tapedrive. So this problem seems to be Backup Exec exclusive.

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this problem?

Try uninstalling BE. Reboot the server and reinstall it. Apply all related SP's and/or fixes to it. Also, make sure you can do a simple backup under Win 2000's built-in backup software (windows backup). Next, try to backup a few files or directories in BE.

Hi there,

Are bar code rules enabled? Is Windows Device Manager able to recognize the device?

Please set the SCSI ID of the device to any ID except for 0,1 or 6. Also install the latest device drivers for v9.0 from the following link :

VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.0 - Device Driver Installer (20040115) - Includes Tape Driver Release (20031222) and Robotic Library Release (41) (Intel Only)
