We don't have our origional backup server or catalogs so we installed Backup Exec 12 from scratch. I am now running into an error when I try and catalog my tapes. I performed a complete inventory of the tape drive first, however I get the following;

I have been through this article http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH26992 but I have already inventoried the tape as you can see above. What am I missing here? Any help would be appreciated. This is happening for the majority of my tapes.

What data does this Tape contain. Is it normal files etc. or ndmp data.
You can try to the following :-
- move the tape to retired media set
- Delete this tape from the retired media set
- Run the Inventory
- Go to Tools -> Options -> Catalogs -> deselect "use storage media based catalog"
- Run the catalog job and update us
If you have ndmp data in the tape then you do not need to deselect "use storage media based catalogs". Only run the catalog Job.
Let me know if the above procedure help in any way.
