Problems to restore an Mailbox E2K3

somitec
Level 2
Hello anybody,

first off all - sorry for bad english.

I try to restore an Mailbox an an Win 2003 SBS Server with Backup Exec 11d.
The Job log said everything is all right. But if i try to restore i choos the storage group, see the public and private store - an then empty...
funnily enough i see an Tool Typ when i move the mouse over the informationstore with the date 01.01.2098.

All options in the Backupjob are set correctly i checked it over again.

Oh i write full backups to an DLT Tape if i backup the exchange to teh hdd i see all my mailboxes but all options are the same (except this date)
So can someone help me how i get the restore?

Thank you.

Greets

Michael

Backing up to tape doesn't really allow a proper restore of Exchange. You have to stage your backup to disk.
Read this article I wrote and you should come right. I have used it a couple of times, and no longer have restore failures.

Hello Craig,

thank you for the how to - it works til the point i start the restore job.
so i can see the mailboxes and the item, select them and try to restore -but get an error. (see down on the page)
i checked the permission and credentials seems to be ok (bews say succed)
The Symantec KB says something about an wrong server name, but this is correct in my cas. i set the debug mode like ii was descriped in the KB.
I try diffrent ways to restore (offline backup, try to overwrite items in the store) but nothing fix my problem

Hopefully i add the errror message an the logfile.

Hi,

Can you try a creds check within the properties of the restore job and verify it is successful?
Does the job run at all? Do you get a byte count at all?

Are you using GRT here? Is the disk you are using for the staging big enough to mount the info store?

Gilly
