Quantum Superloader 3 keeps going off-line

After a period of time, (seems like several hours) BE reports that the tape drive is not online, this is a brand new tape loader.

Backup jobs to tape just end up being paused with Job Monitor reporting that the tape loader is ready, idle.

Even when I try and initialize the drive it still says it is idle.

I called out a Quantum engineer and he came on-site and tested the drive and can find no fault.

What could be causing this?

Have you got the latest patches installed, tape drive firmwares?

Are you using symantec drivers or proprietry, you should be using symantec

Thanks for the reply.

I'm using the Symantec drivers, and all the latest patches have been applied to BE.

I'm having other problems with BE (see my other posts - regarding a mounted drive which is not mounted) and most seems to to start after downloading the lasted big hotfix.

I'm trying the following now, after reading various things.

1)I'm moving the HBA to a different PCI slot in case the other card that is installed (SATA RAID) is causing a conflict/timing issues, even thought nothing reports there are any problems.

2) I'm deleting the 2 RAID volumes (where my backup to disk folders are) and recreating them again - also gives me a chance to resize.

3) Then I will recreate all the backup to disk folder and start over
